MAN STRUCK BY CAR, DIES ON U.S. 220

A 33-year-old Boones Mill man died late Friday after being struck by an automobile on U.S. 220 north of Rocky Mount.

State Police said Bobby Lee Chandler died at the scene of the 11:25 p.m. accident just north of Virginia 697.

In a summary given to dispatchers, Trooper W.K. Odell said Chandler ran in front of the car, which was southbound on the four-lane divided highway.
