VIRGINIA SWIMMERS GET BEST OF NORTH CAROLINA

An all-star team made up of some of the best young swimmers in Virginia defeated a North Carolina squad 507-451 in the Virginia-North Carolina All-Star Duel meet Sunday at Koury Natatorium on the University of North Carolina campus.

Daniel Summerlin, Mary Logan and Brooke Adams led the Virginia contingent to the victory.

Summerlin, the North Cross swimmer who has accepted a swimming scholarship from North Carolina, placed first in the 15-18 division 200-meter individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Logan won the 9-10 division 50 breast stroke and placed second in the 200 individual medley.

Adams was first in the 13-14 200 backstroke and third in the 200 individual medley.
