ROANOKE MAN STABBED IN CHEST AND ARM; POLICE SEEKING HIS WIFE

A Roanoke woman has been charged with stabbing her husband three times with a screwdriver and then ramming his car with her Oldsmobile.

Thomas M. Battle, 28, of the 3500 block of Bennett Drive Northwest, told police that he was talking with friends Saturday afternoon near his home when his wife approached him with a screwdriver.

Battle tried to flee, police said, but was stabbed once in the chest and twice in the arm.

The woman then took a .22-caliber rifle from her car and used it to smash the windows of Battle's Toyota before getting into her car and using it to ram her husband's vehicle, police said.

A warrant charging the woman with malicious wounding has been issued, but her name was not released this morning because she had not been arrested.

Battle was treated at Community Hospital.
