BILL HAS CANDIDATES KEEP RECORDS 3 YEARS

A bill signed by Gov. Douglas Wilder requires candidates to keep campaign records for three years after an election.

Wilder, who had sought to change the bill to allow a candidate to destroy records after one year, signed the bill Monday.

At the General Assembly's special session last month, the House of Delegates overwhelmingly voted to retain the three-year record-keeping provision.
