FARMERS' MARKET SETS THEME DAYS IN VINTON

"Mother's Day at the Market," will be held Saturday at the Vinton Farmers' Market. The first 125 mothers or daughters will receive a free begonia, and free soft drinks will be served throughout the day.

On May 19, "Third Saturdays at the Market" will have a "Children's Day" theme. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with a bicycle safety check by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4522; appearances by McGruff, the Crime Dog, and Safety Pup; safety exhibits by the Vinton Fire Department and Vinton Rescue Squad; and a Clothesline Art Show.

A bicycle rodeo will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and a BMX exhibition is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

Entertainment will be provided at noon by the Vinton Baptist Church Music Makers Choir.

The town of Vinton also is accepting registration from individuals and groups interested in selling harvested fruits and vegetables, plants, shrubs, homemade baked goods and handmade crafts on a daily, weekly or monthly basis at the farmers' market. For more information, call 983-0607.
