The Seminoles' run total was the largest ever against Tech in a conference game. It was the most runs scored against the Hokies since they were beaten 26-0 by Georgia Southern in 1973.
Florida State (14-4 in the conference, 45-12 overall) scored five runs in the first inning against Tech starter Kirk Goodson (5-4). Brad Parker hit a grand slam in the third as the Seminoles took advantage of four Tech errors to score 11 runs.
Tech (9-6, 33-17) contributed to its problems with eight errors - leading to 13 unearned runs - 13 walks, six wild pitches, two hit batsmen and a passed ball.
Right-hander Brad Gregory (2-1) pitched six innings to gain the victory. Tech used seven pitchers, including position players Len Wentz and Rod Emmons, who worked one inning each.
The top hitters for the Hokies were Les Jennette and David Dallas. Jennette was 5-for-6 with three doubles, a home run and five runs batted in. Dallas was 4-for-4 with five runs scored and two RBI.
