\ LEBANON, VA. - Charles D. (Sonny) Jones, age 53, died Friday, May 11, 1990, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Clifftop, W.Va., he had lived in Lebanon the past 14 years. He was employed by Cumberland Plateau Planning District Commission as Regional Director of the Jobs Training Program serving SDA1. He was the pitcher and manager of Richlands Rangers Softball Team, having fast-pitched for 32 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Lambert Jones, Lebanon; one daughter, Miss Laura Jones, Roanoke; one son, Sam Jones of the home; mother, Mrs. Thelma Jones, Clifftop, W.Va.; one sister, Mrs. Gloria Jean O'Neal, Crossville, Tenn.; and one brother, John Jones, Crossville, Tenn. Funeral services for Charles D. (Sonny) Jones will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Russell County Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jessie Wilson and the Rev. James Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Richlands Rangers Softball Team. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Chafin, Jim Balwin, Jack Davis, Warren Ferguson, Jeff Owen, Larry Carr, James A. Gillespie, Olen Mumpower and Darrell Blankenship. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Russell County Funeral Home, in Lebanon, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
