BYRD WINS BLUE RIDGE SOCCER TITLE IN SHOOTOUT

William Byrd won an overtime shootout 4-2 to earn a 4-3 victory over Northside in the soccer championship of the Blue Ridge District on Saturday.

The Terriers now receive an automatic bid to the Region III Tournament.

William Byrd had a balanced scoring attack. Mark Andrews, Scott Brammer and Robbie Scharps each scored a goal in regulation play, and, after a scoreless overtime period, Chris Blevins, Andy Crowder, Shawn Niday and Eddie Donovan each booted in shootout goals. Northside2100-3 William Byrd2101-4
