FERRUM GETS NCAA BERTH

Ferrum College received its third consecutive NCAA Division III baseball tournament bid today.

Ferrum is the second seed in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, which is being played at Upper Montclair, N.J., Thursday through Sunday.

The Panthers (27-7) open against third-seeded Rutgers-Newark (23-11) at 4 p.m. Thursday. Host Montclair State (23-13-2) meets fourth-seeded Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (28-10) at noon.

The winner of the double-elimination tournament will join the five other region survivors in the Division III World Series to be held May 25-28 at Albion College in Battle Creek, Mich. - Staff report
