DALTON STUDENT IN MATH CONTEST

Brandon Hall, an eighth-grade student at John N. Dalton Intermediate School in Radford, will compete Friday in the Mathcounts National Championship in Washington.

Four-member teams will represent each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. Defense Department and State Department schools worldwide.

Students will compete as teams and individually. The national champion will receive an $8,000 scholarship and a a personal computer.

Hall was selected to participate in the math competition after achieving one of the highest scores at the state Mathcounts contest.
