Officials have dedicated Tangier Island's new 5,700-foot-long seawall, culminating a 14-year effort to protect the island from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

Police in Prince William County were investigating the theft and arson of a truck owned by Dr. Eric Foretich, a principal in the highly publicized child custody battle with his former wife, Dr. Elizabeth Morgan. Police would not say Monday whether the theft and fire were believed to be connected with the custody battle over their 7-year-old daughter, Hilary.
