William Ira Bowles, age 65, of Rt. 2, Narrows, died Monday, May 14, 1990, in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. He was born in Ceres, Va., on December 28, 1924, and was the son of the late Charles Kemper and Wenona Warner Harner Bowles. He was a retired employee of the Hoechst-Celanese Corp. Plant at Narrows and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Blakenship Bowles, Narrows; two sons, William Gary Bowles and Douglas Wayne Bowles, both of Narrows; one daughter, Dianne B. Gautier of Narrows; one foster daughter, Judy St. Clair Sadler, Narrows; two brothers, Jack Bowles and Larry Bowles, both of Narrows; three sisters, Ruth Hypes, Narrows; Margaret Goad, Hillsville; Thelma Porterfield, Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel with Tony Reed, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Rt. 2, Narrows, with graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #68 of Narrows. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon after 3:00 p.m.
