BANK SETS $20 MILLION FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM

Citibank announced Tuesday that it would spend $20 million over the next 10 years to improve urban schools in a variety of ways, including the development of new approaches to teaching and the promotion of technology in the classroom.

The aim is to "ensure that all youngsters in poor and inner-city programs we support are prepared either for college or for employment when they complete secondary school," said Paul M. Ostergard, vice president and director of corporate contributions for the company.
