BRISTOL ENGINEER GIVEN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

H.M. "Jack" Taylor, utilities engineer for the Bristol District office of the Virginia Department of Transportation for the past 30 years, has received the Commissioner's Award for Excellence.

The Washington County native manages utility relocations for highway construction projects in 12 Southwest Virginia counties, working with almost 40 electric, telephone, gas and cable television companies, public service authorities, towns and cities.

Bristol District Administrator Jack L. Corley said that, during Taylor's 30 years on the job, "there has never been a delay in advertising a construction project or a significant delay to a contractor as a result of utilities not being relocated."
