SISTERS WIN LAWSUIT AGAINST ABUSIVE FATHER

The adult daughters of a child abuse expert were awarded $1.2 million each from a jury that found the former FBI agent and prosecutor had sexually abused and beaten them when they were growing up.

Susan Hammond, 44, and her sister, Sharon Simone, 45, called their lawsuit "a terrible act of love" to make Edward Rodgers, 72, accountable for years of abuse.

The women sued their father, a former FBI agent, chief investigator for the El Paso County, Colo., District Attorney's office and a nationally known child abuse expert, for abuses suffered from 1944 through 1965.

In a deposition, Rodgers admitted that he hit his wife and may have hit his children, but said he didn't remember doing so. He said he had fought alcoholism for years.
