EX-PRESIDENT LEADS DOMINICAN VOTING

Juan Bosch, a leftist ex-president, took an early lead over conservative President Joaquin Balaguer in Dominican elections, according to initial returns today.

Bosch, who has moderated his positions in promising to lead the nation out of an economic crisis, held a narrow lead with about 20 percent of the polling stations reporting, the Electoral Board said this morning.
