Casey C. Jones, age 72, of Rt. 5, Bassett died Thursday evening in a car accident with his wife, Inez Jones. He was born in Beckley, W.Va. September 4, 1917, the son of the late John P. Jones and the late Maranda Atkins Jones. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the Oak Level Baptist Church and a member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Charlie Lee (Lora) Atkins, of Bassett; Mrs. Emmett (Geneva) Shively, of Ferrum; and Ms. Lucy Atkins, of Bassett; two brothers, Oscar Jones, of Floyd; and Woody Jones, of Bassett. Funeral will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Service Chapel, Bassett with burial at the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ferrum. The Rev. Randall Blackmon will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Oak Level Ruritan Club or the Oak Level Baptist Church.
