COUPLE KILLED IN CAR-TRUCK CRASH NEAR MARTINSVILLE

A Henry County couple died after their compact car pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer on U.S. 220 north of Martinsville late Thursday.

Inez Tinsley Jones, 76, and Casey Jones, 72, died shortly after midnight in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County.

Casey Jones was driving when the car left a private driveway and pulled onto the highway.

The accident occurred about 11 p.m., according to a report by Trooper J.L. Elgin, who investigated the accident.

State police dispatchers had no information on whether any charges had been placed.
