GLAZE, VOYCE C.\
Voyce C. Glaze, age 88, of Roanoke, died Friday. He was born in Milwaukee,
Wisc., and moved with his family to Virginia in 1914. Mr. Glaze attended
Hampton-Sydney College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by
the Norfolk and Western Railway for forty-five years starting in the Stores
Department in 1922, transferred to the Motive Power Department Mechanical
Engineers Office, where he served as tracer, draftsman, chief draftsman 1948
,and mechanical engineer 1963, until he retirement in 1967. He was a member of
Virginia Heights Baptist Church and preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two
years, Rachel Berry Glaze and his only son, Voyce C. Glaze, Jr. Surviving are
a daughter-in-law, Sudye C. Glaze, New Bern, N. C.; granddaughters, Sudye C.
(Pixie) Glaze, Patricia G. Glaze, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; brother, Glenn
V. Glaze, Pamplin, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests memorials be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Oakey's South Chapel with Dr. Harry Y.
Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The
family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South
Chapel.
