The Roanoke concert is a benefit for the Plowshare Peace Center.
Flor de Cana, whose name translates as flower of the sugar cane, specializes in upbeat songs that sometimes are political. Members use such native stringed instruments as the Andean charango and the Venezuelan cuatro, a large mountain drum called the bombo, and the zamponas, which are Andean panpipes, in addition to guitar, saxophone, electric bass and keyboards.
The Lime Kiln concert will be at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be reserved by calling (703) 463-3074. The show opens Lime Kiln's 1990 summer concert season.
Tuesday's concert, also at 8, will be in the Unitarian Universalist Church at the intersection of Grandin Road and Brandon Avenue Southwest. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
