Mattie Huffman Wood, age 76, died May 20, 1990, in a Lexington hospital. She was born in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Webster C. and Leatha Henson Huffman. She is survived by her husband, Aubrey L. Wood; one daughter, Mrs. Anna Jane Thomas, Buena Vista; one son-in-law, Houston Thomas, Buena Vista; one sister, Mrs. Annie Hamilton, Buena Vista; two brothers, Dan Huffman, Buena Vista; Webb Huffman, White Sulfur Springs, W.Va.; a special friend, Mrs. Barbara Mace, Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace Hoffman, Alexandria. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista, by the Rev. Claude Floyd and the Rev. David Bain. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
