TECH'S ALFANO NAMED TO COACHES' BOARD

Virginia Tech's women's basketball coach Carol Alfano was elected District III representative to the board of directors of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Monday.

Alfano, who has coached at Tech for 12 seasons, will serve a three-year term that begins with a convention in June in San Diego.

The Hokies finished 14-14 this past season under Alfano, who has a 169-168 overall record at Tech and a 100 percent graduation rate for players. - Staff report
