The 60-pound fish came from a private pond, known as "Sink Mill Pond," now part of the college campus. It was shot by the late Ben A. Topham of Wytheville July 5, 1970, and his widow, Shirley Topham, has provided the fish to the college for exhibition.
The Guiness Book of World Records lists the fish as second in size only to a carp taken near Pretoria, South Africa. - Southwest bureau
