MOFA GARTH NEWEL SERIES

The Garth Newel Chamber Music Series will feature violinist Nicolas Danielson and pianist Paul Nitsch in concert June 8 at 5 p.m. at the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts.

Danielson has entered the Tchaikovsky competition, which will be held in Moscow in mid-June. The Garth Newel program is a pre-competition performance of some of the works he has prepared for Moscow.

The program will include J.S. Bach's Chaconne for Solo Violin; Eugene Ysaye's Sonata No. 3, Op. 27, "Ballade," for solo violin; Frolov's Scherzo for Violin and Piano; Niccolo Paganini's Caprice No. 2 and Caprice No. 24 for solo violin; and Tchaikovsky's Three Pieces for Violin and Piano.
