ATTORNEY PLEADS GUILTY TO COCAINE POSSESSION

A former Norfolk assistant commonwealth's attorney pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to misdemeanor possession of cocaine.

Elizabeth Jane Anderson, 35, is the second Norfolk attorney to be charged in a federal investigation of drug use begun in March. Cynthia K. Baskett, a longtime friend of Anderson's, pleaded guilty to a similar charge two weeks ago.

Both women face up to a year in prison and $100,000 fine. They also face possible disciplinary action by the Virginia Bar Association.
