For now, anyway.
Southwest Virginia remains on the tour.
The earlier decision to include West Virginia in the trip angered state officials, who feared the tour would reinforce stereotypes.
West Virginia was too distant to be included in the "Third World In America" tour, Laurie Adams of San Francisco-based Global Exchange said Tuesday.
The tour, scheduled for June 17-26, will take a look at poverty, social issues and environmental problems. It was to have two groups - one going to Kentucky and Tennessee and the other visiting Virginia and West Virginia. Now, participants will travel in one group, Adams said.
