PULASKI EVENT DRAWS STRONG FIELD

More than 50 drivers from six states are entered in the NASCAR-sanctioned Budweiser 300 Late Model Stock Car race Saturday night at Pulaski County Speedway.

Late Model Stock drivers have an opportunity to pick up $11,000 in prize money during a three-race weekend.

Saturday's event is the second leg of the Tri-County, PCS and Lonesome Pine Late Model Stock Car Challenge. The first race in the challenge is tonight at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, N.C., and is worth $1,500 to the winner. Pulaski's race will pay $2,500 to the winner, and a Sunday afternoon victory at Lonesome Pine will be worth $2,000.

A $5,000 bonus has been offered to any driver who wins all three races. There is a $1,000 bonus for two victories.

The Budweiser 300 also is the second leg of the Martinsville/PCS $10,000 LMSC Challenge.

David Blankenship of Richmond won the first race in the challenge at Martinsville in March. The third event will be at Pulaski County Speedway in September, with the final race set for October at Martinsville.

A four-race sweep pays $10,000. Winning three of the four events is worth $7,500, and two challenge victories pays $5,000.

Saturday also will be a double-points night for the track's five divisions.

Also on the schedule are 35-lap races for the Street and Modified Mini stocks, along with 25-lap events for the Mini and Pure stocks.

Gates open at noon and practice begins at 1 p.m. Qualifying starts at 5 p.m., with the first race set for 7 p.m. - Staff report
