BEACH BAND TO PLAY AT PARK

The Embers, a North Carolina beach band, will play June 1 at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.

The Embers are known for their hit, "I Love Beach Music," considered the anthem of many beach music fans.

Sponsored by Bluewater Boat Rental and WROV, the concert will start at 7 p.m. at the beach at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased in person at the Bluewater office at Halesford Center in Moneta or by charging by phone at (703) 297-6222.

Bill Ferguson of Bluewater Boat Rentals said the concert would be a family event. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the state park.

The concert is part of Bluewater's state park concessionaire contract that includes entertainment.

If the Embers show is a success, a second concert featuring the Catalinas will be held July 15, Ferguson said.
