Mel Gibson takes along a lot of baggage when he hits the road to make Mel Gibson a movie - his wife and six kids.

"I couldn't concentrate otherwise," the actor said.

"I get more done when they're around because I know where everyone is and I can relax," Gibson said in the June 4 issue of People magazine.

The youngest in the Gibson brood is 5 months and the oldest is 9.

Gibson, 34, who stars with Goldie Hawn in the romantic comedy "Bird on a Wire," said his 5-year-old son Will wants to follow in his acting footsteps.

Gibson said he asked the boy why and Will responded, "`So I can take your place when you die."'

"He was quite serious," Gibson said. "It was rather sweet and cracked me up."

Ronald Reagan, Conway Twitty and Tom Brokaw share a space in Robert Gill's heart - and hands.

Gill, who lives in Huntington, W.Va., carves black walnut into busts of world leaders, country music stars and others he admires.

He usually works from photographs and said he prefers famous people to improve his carving skill.

Gill, 64, has a letter from Reagan praising his bust, which is to be included in the former president's official library in California.

"I didn't put all Reagan's wrinkles in," Gill said. "I wanted him to look better."

Carol Burnett is ready to get mad. The actress says she used her 12-year hiatus from weekly television learning how.

The comedian and star of NBC's "Carol & Company" said in the June 4 issue of People magazine that her suppression of anger contributed to the 1982 breakup of her 20-year marriage to Joe Hamilton, executive producer of "The Carol Burnett Show."

With the divorce and some therapy since that show went off the air in 1978, Burnett said she came to realize "nobody is going to drop dead if I tell them I don't like something."
