POINDEXTER VERDICT UPHELD

A judge refused Tuesday to overturn John Poindexter's five Iran-Contra convictions, ruling that the former national security adviser had presented a weak defense against strong evidence.

U.S. District Judge Harold Greene denied defense motions for a judgment of acquittal on the five felony convictions of then-President Reagan's national security adviser.

Jurors found Poindexter guilty of lying to Congress and destroying documents to conceal covert Reagan administration assistance of the Nicaraguan rebels and the U.S. role in a 1985 Israeli shipment of Hawk missiles to Iran.
