LENSCRAFTERS BUYS HOURGLASSES CHAIN

LensCrafters Optical, a division of US Shoe Corp., said Thursday that it has acquired Hourglasses Inc., a five-unit optical chain based in Louisville, Ky.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hourglasses has outlets in Rockford, Ill.; Madison, Wis.; Detroit; Roanoke, Va.; and Charlotte, N.C.

The acquisition is LensCrafters' second-largest, after the August 1989 purchase of the 12-unit Lenox Optical chain in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
