The Wythe County Board of Supervisors had said it would join only at the 50-cent rate, and the partnership board reluctantly gave in so that all the cities and counties in the Mount Rogers Planning District would be part of the industrial marketing venture.
But the partnership board also agreed to allow any other localities to join at the lower rate, if they choose to do so, although it would reduce the organization's funding by more than $90,000 if all do.
Wythe County declined to join at the full price because it has its own industrial marketing director.
