With the score 2-2, Ron Lim walked to lead off the LSU third and scored on Wes Grisham's two-out single. Clark's two-run homer to right made it 5-2. Johnson's first double gave the Tigers an early lead and his second capped the scoring.
LSU (53-17) advanced to a winner's bracket game Monday night against Oklahoma State, which routed Fullerton State 14-4 Saturday night.
The Citadel (45-13), seeded seventh and making its first Series appearance, plays an elimination game Monday afternoon against Fullerton State (36-22).
The Bulldogs showed no first-game jitters, scoring in the first inning on Gettys Glaze's double and Billy Baker's RBI single. They added a run in the third when Anthony Jenkins led off with his 16th homer, a towering drive over the 370-foot mark in right-center.
After Jenkins' homer, LSU starter Paul Byrd (16-5) did not allow another Citadel runner to reach second base before he was relieved by Rick Greene to start the eighth.
In the second game, home runs by Neil Szeryk and Michael Daniel during a seven-run second inning carried Oklahoma State (54-16).
Daniel drove in four runs, three on an inside-the-park homer that sent Fullerton State's Rich Gonzales to a hospital.
Daniel lofted a long drive to left-center and Gonzales caught the ball as he neared the wall. But the outfielder slammed head first into the wall and, when he fell to the ground and reached for his head, the ball rolled free. It was ruled a home run, Daniel's 21st of the year.
Gonzales' neck was stabilized by a brace and an ambulance took him to University Hospital, where doctors said he was in good condition with no serious injuries.
