JAMES RIVER PLACES 12TH IN ODYSSEY

A Southwest Virginia entry into the world Odyssey of the Mind won 12th place during the competition Saturday in Iowa.

During the competition, 678 teams from throughout the world were asked to solve a spontaneous problem that required brainstorming, dramatization, creative writing, costume-making or drawing.

The standings of area teams, along with the problem they were asked to address:

James River High School, Botetourt County, 12th out of 47 teams, omitronic humor.

Gilbert Linkous Elementary School, Blacksburg, 14th out of 48 teams, omitronic humor.

Community School, Roanoke County, 23rd out of 50 teams, Seven Wonders of the World.

Hidden Valley Junior High, 34th out of 50 teams, recycling.
