TWO TEENS CHARGED IN ROBBERY, ABDUCTION

Two Roanoke teen-agers have been charged with robbing and abducting a 63-year-old man from his Carroll Avenue home early Tuesday.

Robert Lee Moorman of the 1800 block of Carroll Avenue told police that he answered a knock to his door about 1 a.m. and greeted an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old.

Because he knew the youths, Moorman invited them inside. The teen-agers then grabbed Moorman, held a butcher knife to his neck and demanded money, police said.

They took about $800 in cash and then loaded plastic bags with meat from Moorman's freezer, cigarettes and beer.

Police later learned that a telephone line was cut during the robbery.

The youths forced Moorman to drive them to Syracuse Avenue, where he managed to escape and called police.

A short time later, police arrested Clarence R. Poole, 18, of the 1700 block of Carroll Avenue, and Alvin L. Howard, 19, of the 1700 block of Staunton Avenue, and charged them with robbery and abduction.
