EGG PLANT TO CLOSE; 25 WORKERS WILL LOSE JOBS

Twenty-five workers will lose their jobs this month when Shaffer's Inc. shuts down its egg-processing and distributing business, the company's general manager said.

The business has agreed to sell the processing and distributing operation to Glenwood Farms in Amelia County, the largest egg producer and distributor in Virginia, the manager, George Shaffer, said Monday.

Shaffer would not release the sale price. The sale is effective June 15, with the transition beginning June 18, he said.
