MONEY IS WASTED AS NEEDS GO BEGGING

IN THE SAME newspaper, we have an article on opening up a school for gifted children that would cost taxpayers between $14 million and $30 million; and an article describing the horrendous working conditions and antiquated equipment medical examiners have to put up with to satisfy the public's demands for autopsies and chemical examinations.

Now honestly, where are our priorities? Are they spending millions of our hard-earned dollars for yet another school to pacify some elected official's child, or do they try to find a way to spend that money on a necessity? Somewhere along the way our wants and needs crossed, and now money is spent needlessly on superficial items while there is never enough money to go around on items we desperately need. PAMELA K.
