TWO BODIES FOUND MAY BE STUDENTS

It could take several days to determine if two bodies found in a wooded area of Hanover County are those of two Virginia Commonwealth University students missing since May 18, authorities said.

The clothed, decomposed bodies were sent to the medical examiner's office in Richmond after being found by a passerby about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday in woods near a commuter parking lot off U.S. 360, the sheriff's office said.

Although no cause of death was released, a source close to the investigation told The Richmond News Leader the two had been shot.

Authorities were working together to determine if the bodies were those of James Sherrin, 20, and Deborah Ferguson, 21.

Ferguson's car, a white Ford Escort, was found unlocked May 27 in north Richmond, a few miles from her Richmond apartment.
