COMPANIES DONATE TO AREA CAUSES

Several companies have made contributions to New River Valley charities and school projects:

New River Valley Mall has donated $300 to Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the New River Valley. The organization provides services to children from single-parent families.

ERA Townside Realtors recently raised more than $2,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at a pancake breakfast given by the business. The contribution will be presented to Jerry Lewis during the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Labor Day Telethon.

Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, N.C., donated a full set of the United States Federal Code law books to New River Community College's library. The college recently initiated a paralegal program.

Simmons Cable TV donated a $3,000 scholarship to Radford University. The scholarship is open to all graduating seniors from Radford, Christiansburg and Pulaski County high schools who have been accepted at the university.
