Donald Lewis Harris, 25, also was ordered to pay the cost of repairing the tires - about $3,700.
At a hearing in Roanoke General District Court, Harris pleaded guilty to one count of property damage. The remaining 40 counts were taken under advisement.
Harris, of Marshall Avenue Southwest, was arrested April 25 and charged with a series of tire slashings in the Old Southwest neighborhood the previous weekend. Many of the cars, parked in residential areas, had more than one tire damaged.
Authorities said the tire-slashing spree started with a car belonging to a person Harris was angry with for an unknown reason, and then escalated to the point that he began to select random cars.
