FROGSKIN OFFERS PROTECTION FROM SUN

Sunscreens work well, if you use them, but it's often difficult to keep track of active children. As a result of frustrating attempts to protect her fair-skinned, red-haired young son from the Arizona sun, Jan Steinberg, a Scottsdale mother, developed an alternative, at least for the upper torso: Frogskin swim shirts.

For use in or out of the water, these tightly woven nylon T-shirts, resembling cotton sheeting, have a sun protection factor of 36, compared with the average T-shirt, which has an SPF of about 5.

The shirts are white with a blue frog emblem framed by a fluorescent red triangle.

For children, in sizes toddler 2 to 8, the cost is $19.95; sizes 10 to 16, $22.95. For adults, the shirts come in small, medium, large and extra large, and cost $25.95.

A second style, in adult sizes only, has long sleeves with a high, stand-up collar. It costs $39.95.

The shirts can be ordered by writing Frogskin, Dept. N., 2625 South Roosevelt St., Tempe, Ariz. 85282., or by calling 602-451-7164.
