WHERE DOES RV DEALER GO CAMPING

Richard Savage has been a recreational vehicle dealer for 30 years, an avid camper longer than that. He has seen the inside of 500 campgrounds. So what's his favorite camping spot?

"Fort Wilderness in Disney World," he says without hesitation. "It is the best campground in the world.

"I have been there almost every year, at least once a year, since it has been open."

Savage operates C&L Camper Sales in Radford, a three-generation family business.

"Sometimes I go in a little folding camper, sometimes I take a 35-foot motor home," he said of his trips to Fort Wilderness in Florida. "It depends on who is going and what time of the year it is. I camp in everything I sell."

One of the beauties of Fort Wilderness is that once you level your RV there is little need to move it.

"You can get on a train or tram, or whatever, and go anywhere in the whole campground," he said. "As a matter of fact, you can even go to town."

There's plenty of entertainment too - the campground is inside Disney World. If you want to play golf on a resort-type course, it's there, said Savage. So is fishing, swimming, outdoor movies, paddle boats, trains, horseback riding, shows.

And privacy, too.

"When you set your camper up, even though they have over 3,000 campsites, the most RVs you can see at one time, I would say, are five," Savage said.

"This is the No. 1 campground."
