Elizabeth H. Johnson, age 51, passed away Monday, June 11, 1990 at Twin County Community Hospital in Galax. She was born in Carroll County, May 1, 1939, a daughter of the late Dixie B. Hawks, Sr. and Grace Cooley Hawks, of Lambsburg, Va. She was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and had taught schools in Grayson County, Pulaski County, City of Galax, and Carroll County. She was a member of the Lambsburg Christian Church, also a member of the National Education Association, Virginia Education Association, and the Carroll County Education Association. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Robert B. Johnson; a daughter, Judith Ann Johnson, Woodlawn; a son, Benjamin E. Johnson, Elon College, N.C.; a stepson, Robert C. Johnson, Galax; two sisters, Mary Alice Martin, Marietta, Ga.; Nancy Helton, Galax; three brothers, Thomas E. Hawks, Hillsville; R. Frank Hawks, John B. Hawks, both of Lambsburg. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 13, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lambsburg Christian Church in Lambsburg, Va. with the Rev. Charles Mackey officiating. Interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at Hillsville.
