Thomas C. Abate died Saturday in a local nursing home. Survivors include his wife, Jane Abate; two sons, Richard Abate and Kenneth Abate; one daughter, Rebecca Abate; and three grandchildren, all of Christiansburg. As he requested, his body has been donated for medical-science research. Private memorial tribute.
