Mrs. Gladys D. Arrington of 1203 Chestnut Lane, Vinton, died Monday evening in a local hospital. Mrs. Arrington was the widow of Douglas E. Arrington. Prior to her failing health, she was associated with her son, Harold L. Arrington in his business as Manufacturers Representative. Mrs. Arrington was a member of Vinton Chapter OES #136. In 1971 she was honored as Vinton Mother of the Year for Community Affairs. She was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie A. and Ezra C. Wade, Roanoke; a son, Harold L. Arrington, Vinton; daughters-in-law, Mrs. Donald W. Arrington, N. Y.; Mrs. Richard E. Arrington, Vinton; sisters, Mrs. Ruby D. Sisson, Salem; Mrs. Edna D. Anderson, Vinton; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Pauline B. Turner, Roanoke; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Pastor Ken Butterworth will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
