FBI AGENT CONVICTED IN WOMAN'S SLAYING

An FBI agent solved a year-old homicide by confessing he strangled a pregnant woman with whom he had been having an affair.

Mark Putnam, 30, of Sunrise, Fla., was sentenced Tuesday to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of Susan Daniels Smith.

Putnam is believed to be the first agent in FBI history charged or convicted of a homicide-related crime.
