WYTHE SCHOOL VACANCY FILLED

The Wythe County School Board named Jim Vaught assistant superintendent of instruction at its monthly meeting Tuesday.

Vaught fills a vacancy created last August by the resignation of Tom Bentson, who left for a similar post in Manassas. Vaught moves to the post from being Wythe County director of guidance and career education.

In other moves, Danny McDaniel, principal of the Wythe County Vocational School, was named principal of George Wythe High School; Bill Puckett, who had been principal at Wythe since 1986, was named secondary supervisor; and Ernestine Dalton, who was assistant to Puckett, is the new principal of the Vocational School.

The board agreed to advertise for the high school assistant principal job before that vacancy is filled.
