MAN RECOVERING FROM STAB WOUNDS

A 32-year-old man was listed in stable condition Thursday at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted after being stabbed in the chest in the 800 block of Hunt Avenue Northwest.

Richard Lee Webb told police that he was in the area Wednesday night when five men approached him and began to beat him. He was stabbed twice in the chest, police said.

Webb said he did not know his attackers, and that the incident was unprovoked. An investigation is continuing.
