BOND COTE PULASKI PLANTS GET NEW OWNER

IPI Inc., a Virginia-based corporation, announced Friday that it had purchased West Point-Pepperell's Bond Cote division in Pulaski.

Officials with the two companies would not disclose the price.

West Point-Pepperell, Inc. of West Point, Ga., is a manufacturer and marketer of textiles and apparel for the home, industry and apparel trade.

The plant has two locations in Pulaski County - one in the town of Pulaski and one in the industrial park in Dublin. There is a total of about 130 workers.

West Point-Pepperell purchased Bond Cote in 1985. The plant had been operating since 1949.

Irvan Thomas, plant manager, said in February that the buyout process had been going on for six or seven months. He said the buyers had long-range plans to expand.

Thomas referred all comments Friday to Pamela Webber, a public relations officer with Farley Industries. Webber could not be reached for comment.

IPI Inc. is a newly formed company established to acquire and operate Bond Cote. IPI plans to invest in capital equipment to substantially increase the growth of the company during the next five years, according to a news release.

"IPI will employ substantially all existing Bond Cote employees," the release said.
