CAR ACCIDENT KILLS TEEN

A 15-year-old Rockbridge County boy was killed Friday night when the car he was riding in struck an embankment and overturned.

Shawn Wayne Lockhart of Lexington was riding west along Virginia 699 just east of Virginia 735 at about 11:50 p.m. when his car hit the embankment. No other vehicles were involved, according to police reports.

Lockhart was found dead at the scene, state police said Saturday. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Melissa Anne Emore was driving. A spokesman at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington said Emore was treated and released.
